Everyone has their own “voice,” their own way of thinking and expressing things. I’m not doing you a service if I write what you want in my voice. This is as true of ad copy as it is of a personal essay.
Through my Word Shop, I help you to say what you want in the way you want to say it–except that it will be more professional, more heartfelt, more polished. The following are the services I provide:
There are some things that only you can write. But I can help you write them. These include essays on college entrance exams, personal statements and letters of intent that accompany applications, even love letters and wedding vows.
I edit everything from grammar and punctuation to vocabulary, content and style. This is especially useful if English is not your native language.
Here’s where I write something for you: ad copy, resumes, complaint letters, and so on. Things that don’t have to be written by you but that you still want to sound like you. My process is to interview you to get an idea of what you want and how you think and then I translate it into writing. I use as much of your own phrasing and wording as possible. I order your thoughts, clean up your sentences, vary their lengths, introduce a more meaningful vocabulary if appropriate and give your work a more pleasing ending.
Either in person (locally) or via web video (you will need a web camera and microphone on your computer), we can practice your public speaking, whether English is your mother tongue or a second language.
